THE ORGANISATION NOW WISHES TO RECRUIT A
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SPECIALIST ? (DVS) FULL TIME **APPLY ON THE
WEBSITE** HOURS PER WEEK
Reporting to the Domestic Violence Coordinator, the DVS will be
responsible for the provision of support services to all LWLDVS
clients who are experiencing domestic violence, including cases
identified as high risk of serious harm or murder. The DVS will
co-ordinate a multi-agency response that aims to reduce and manage the
risk identified. This involves risk assessment, safety planning, court
attendance with victims, support on housing and legal options and
service planning.
The salary for this position is ?**Apply on the website**,**Apply on
the website** per annum for **Apply on the website** hours per week
roster to be agreed on appointment. This is a full time, fixed term,
one year contract. The successful candidate will be required to go
through the Garda Vetting process.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have
* A Degree/diploma in social sciences/social care/counselling or
community development disciplines
and/or
* 3 years? experience working directly with people as an advocate
or supporting people to access their rights and entitlements for
themselves
* Experience of working with victims of domestic violence and other
service providers and agencies in a statutory, voluntary, and social
or community setting would be a distinct advantage. A working
knowledge of a second language would be very useful, but not
essential.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCES
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the dynamics of
domestic violence. They should have a clear understanding of the
gender analysis of violence against women and an understanding of the
needs of victims experiencing domestic violence. They will be
experienced in implementing self-care practices and maintaining
personal/professional boundaries.
The DVS must:
* Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
with people from all areas of the community and be comfortable working
with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
* Have experience of planning and delivering caseloads, with strong
crisis and conflict management skills
* Have proficient IT skills
* Have knowledge of Family & Criminal law, specifically Domestic
Violence Orders, Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act, **Apply on
the website** and the area of Access and Custody
* Have knowledge in the area of rights and entitlements
* Be able to assist with the monitoring, evaluation, and
administration of written statistical reports on the project for
management and our external funders. The successful candidate will be
required to attend relevant meetings and will provide regular reports
to the DVS Coordinator
* Be able to undertake talks and presentations to local groups and
agencies, developing networks and partnerships and increasing the role
of the service in the community.
* The DVS will be required to travel within Longford and MUST have
their own transport and a full clean driving licence.
